Who publishes this site

saintspaintings.com is published by Attribute & Emblem Publishing. This policy describes what the site records about a visit, what it does not, and what happens to anything you send to editors@saintspaintings.com. It covers this domain only.

What this site actually does

Saints Oil Paintings is a reference catalogue of paintings. There is no account to create, no profile, no saved list, no comment thread and no newsletter. Nothing on this site asks a reader to identify themselves, and nothing on it can.

The site sets no advertising cookie and runs no analytics script. It carries no third-party tag of any kind, which means no advertising network is told that you looked at a picture of Saint Sebastian.

Images of artworks are served from the collections and image repositories that hold them. Requesting a page therefore reveals your IP address to those image hosts, in the same way that any page carrying an image from another domain does. Attribute & Emblem Publishing does not control and does not receive their logs.

Server logs

Like any web server, the hosting provider records a line for each request: the IP address it came from, the page asked for, the time, and the browser's user-agent string. Those logs exist so that failures can be diagnosed and abuse can be blocked. They are not used to build a profile, are not combined with anything else, and are not sold or shared.

Hosting and image delivery are provided by third parties acting on our instructions. They process request data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Enquiries sent to the editors

Email sent to editors@saintspaintings.com is read by the editor and kept only while the question it raises is open. Identification enquiries frequently arrive with a photograph of a painting in the sender's own house, and sometimes with an account of where it came from.

That material is treated as private. A photograph of a work in a private house is never published, never added to the catalogue and never passed to a dealer or an auction house. If a correction from such a message changes an entry, the entry records the correction, not the correspondent.

Asking what we hold

Because there is no account, the only thing that can be held about an identifiable person is an email they sent. You may ask what that is, ask for a copy, or ask for it to be deleted, by writing to editors@saintspaintings.com. Deletion is the default outcome once a question is closed, so in most cases there is nothing left to delete.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Anything material enough to matter will be described rather than slipped in.
